This 2011 Annual Report highlights the results attained by UNDP Sierra Leone, in partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone, UN, development partners and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). Projects and Initiatives
The Local Governance and Economic Development Joint Programme (LGED-JP) seeks to improve the socio-economic well-being of Sierra Leoneans at the local level. Building on the Government of Sierra Leone’s Decentralisation Policy, Local Economic Development (LED) programming supports local wealth creation, increased employment opportunities and improved economic productivity and service delivery. more
The Access to Justice Programme builds the capacity of national institutions through the training of Police Prosecutors, Family Support Unit of the Sierra Leone Police and members of the Judiciary. In addition, the Programme involves the development and delivery of knowledge products, community outreach and legal awareness programmes, support to advocacy for law reform and the provision of support services to victims of sexual violence. more
The Preventive Development Project will support the Government’s priorities on land tenure and management, Natural Resource Governance, management of the extractives industry, sustainable energy, climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction through institutional reforms and strengthening, policy development and enforcement as well as capacity building and the inclusion of women in environmental decision-making at all levels of governance. more
