Social Good Summit 2018 Sierra Leone: Investing in Youth to achieve the SDGs

On Friday September 28th 2018, UNDP in Sierra Leone held another of its flagship events - the annual Social Good Summit, National Youth Innovation awards for the 5th time. UNDP has organized the event in in Sierra Leone every year since 2013 except in 2014 due to the Ebola epidemic.

This year's theme was 'Leaving no one behind in the digital age' with a Krio localised slogan - Think Tumara.

The ceremony took place in Magburaka, Tonkolili district, northern Sierra Leone. Previous three summits took place in Freetown, in 2017 it was taken upcountry beginning in Bo.

This year, saw a record number of 78 applications tackling issues around climate change, environment, energy, health, education, agriculture, ICT, human rights and justice among others.

Ten were shortlisted to compete and all of them were awarded for their efforts thanks to our partners-Africell, Rokel Commercial Bank, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank and National Petroleum as well as the Ministry of Youth Affairs Sierra Leone. Full photo essay here
