Development Partners

As one of the Millennium Development Goals, the creation of partnership as a vehicle for the eradication of poverty has become important in the global development agenda. In addition to facilitating the surmounting of the challenges faced in eradicating poverty, partnerships also enhance the creation of more synergy, and development of larger constituencies for advocacy and influencing of policies and programmes that negatively impact on the poor.

In Sierra Leone, some of these challenges include essential reforms in order to promote broad-based pro-poor economic growth and good governance. Consequently, as a trusted and long standing development organisation, UNDP has built joint operational and strategic partnerships with the Government of Sierra Leone and other organisations, in order to maximize the overall impact of development cooperation in the country.

In addition to its result-oriented development programming, some of the other strengths that UNDP brings into these partnerships are:

  • Enormous convening power

  • Tremendous influence on both civil society and the private sector

  • A crucial role in aid coordination
